Welcome to Tobacco Warehouse

Built in 1925, this historic building has stood at the heart of Kavala’s Old Town for over 100 years, forming part of the city’s heritage. Once a tobacco warehouse, it held the rich scent of cured leaves and the quiet rituals of trade. Tucked within winding streets where history lingers in stone and shadow, it now enters a new chapter. Hellofrom Tobacco Warehouse emerges, a curated gallery of history, architecture and elevated luxury. An urban retreat shaped by time, it reveals itself slowly and stays with you long after you leave.

Hellofrom is committed to the art of making hospitality a feeling, not just a place to be.
The hellofrom Tobacco Warehouse was created as a space to be lived in inviting guests to slow down, and experience a destination in a more personal way. More than a place to stay, it reflects how we believe travel should feel: relaxed, considered, and closely connected to the way we like to live.

Aesthetics are characterised by clean lines, subtle strength, earth tones

and nature’s materials crafted with utmost respect.

Minimalist yet rich in tactile materiality, the residence unfolds into light-filled spaces that invite slow living and deepen the sensory bond between architecture and place.

The brick walls create a tactile dialogue with the landscape, while conveying a sense of understated sophistication.

By embracing the inherent qualities of each material and allowing them to age gracefully, we have crafted a retreat that is both grounded in its environment and elevated in its design.

NEIGHBOURHOOD

Hellofrom Tobacco Warehouse is set within the characterful streets of the Old Town, just a stone’s throw from the ancient Roman aqueduct and the fortress. This bohemian district blends historic architecture with a contemporary rhythm of small cafés, local restaurants, and a growing creative presence. With the sea just below, the area is defined by light, air, and a calm sense of continuity. History remains tangible but unassertive, allowing daily life to unfold at a considered pace, inviting travellers to slow down, observe, and experience the city in a way that feels both grounded and quietly refined.

The Roman Aqueduct (Kamares)

The impressive Roman Aqueduct, known as the Kamares, is one of the most iconic landmarks of Kavala. Stretching gracefully across the city with its towering arches, it once carried fresh water from the mountains into the Old Town. Today, it stands as a breathtaking symbol of Kavala’s rich history and timeless beauty. From the comfort of the Tobacco Warehouse, you can enjoy a unique view of this remarkable monument, especially magical at sunset or when illuminated at night, making your stay truly unforgettable.

A historical 18th century residence

Mohammed Ali’s residence in Kavala is one of the finest surviving examples of 18th-century Ottoman architecture in Greece. It invites visitors to step inside and experience the atmosphere and lifestyle of another era, with its elegant wooden details, traditional rooms, and peaceful courtyards. Just a short walk through the charming streets of the Old Town, the residence offers both cultural richness and stunning views, making it an unforgettable stop.

Vibrant local community

The Old Town district blends historic architecture with a contemporary city rhythm of small cafes, local restaurants, and a growing creative presence, with studios, ateliers and independent concept spaces gradually shaping its character.

A stroll through Panagia

Panagia is Kavala’s old town. The peninsula on which it is built contains all of the city’s history: the 15th-century fortress built from granite, brick, and marble, with its central circular tower that offers a panoramic view; the Halil Bey Mosque (also known as Palia Mousiki), pink on the outside, blue on the inside; and the house of the founder of modern Egypt, Mohammed Ali(who was born in Kavala in 1769), known as the “Konaki” from the Turkish word for house, and divided traditionally into a selamlik (men’s quarters) and a haremlik (women’s quarters); and the mansion on Poulidou Street, which was, among other things, the seat of the police (Okhrana) during the Bulgarian occupation of the Second World War. Of course, there’s also the iconic Imaret, once an Islamic seminary, housed in a Baroque Ottoman complex with impressive domes, which now operates as a boutique hotel.
